Containers

The concept of containers relates to their myriad functions, i.e. to hide and to carry: Egyptian mummies, swaddling the remains in herringbone patterns, metal containers hiding refugees or plastic bags and jute sacks to carry the life-support of nomads. On another scale in anatomical structures like a ribcage, pouches and an amniotic sack the structures protect, connect and merge with other structures, but can be permeable at the same time.

Danish Brain Mania

In the summer of 2021 I worked as Artist in residence near Nykobing, Denmark. The local artist's group Kunstnerfløjen has studios in a former psychiatric institution, Annebergparken. Until the middle of the last century the brains of deceased patients were removed and sent in a wooden box to the pathological institute. The remains were buried at - what is called locally - the Brainless Graveyard. Artists from Kunstnerfløjen joined Stitch Your Brain project and about a hundred brains are being stitched. They will be on show from june until september 2022 in Annebergparken.
